Wow, i couldn't believe it. My mother finally agreed to let me get my belly button pierced! I wanted it done for about a year and I was almost 14 when I finally got it pierced. [young, I know] but I was so determined and NOTHiNG could stop me now! okay so this is how I remember it:
It was on a Saturday afternoon, and at the time my cousin and my aunt were living with me. My cousin is three years older than me, and she already had 8 piercings. She knew that I wanted to get my belly button pierced [which would be my first piercing besides my ears] and she decided that since she always wanted to get her eyebrow done, she would do it the same day i got my bellybutton done. We begged my aunt to let her get her eyebrow pierced, and she FiNALLY gave in and then we had to decide on a tattoo/piercing place that was clean, and trustworthy. My cousin wanted to go to the Beauty Mark Tattoo in Waterbury, Connecticut because that's where she got many of her other piercings, so that's where we went!
All I could remember was on the car ride there, my hands were really sweaty and I was shaking and I couldn't stop talking. I couldn't get the image out of my mind of a huge needle being shoved through the skin on top of my bellybutton, and that scared me. Alot. Oh, one thing I want to tell you: if you want to get your bellybutton pierced, but are afraid of how much it will hurt, TRUST ME it doesn't hurt AT ALL and if you are like me and keep trying to pinch your bellybutton to see if it hurts that much, don't do that because pinching yourself does hurt, but actually getting it pierced doesn't hurt at all. ok so anyway....
When we got there, the lady at the desk was very nice and my cousin and I told her exactly what we wanted and she gave all of us papers to sign, and aftercare papers. She told us that it would be about a 10 minute wait. So my mom and my aunt sat down on the chairs and me and my cousin looked at all the jewelery and tattoo pictures. Then the lady asked both of us to go back in the piercing room. The room was the smallest room I have ever seen before..like seriously I don't even know how we all fit in there! The guy that pierced us introduced himself and he was kind of scary looking because of all his tattoos and piercings, but he was a nice guy and he made us more comfortable by talking to us. He closed the door so we wouldn't be distracted, and I saw that there was a mirror on the back of the door. There was also a brown dentist-like chair in the middle of the room. He realized that i was more nervous than my cousin, mainly because this was my first major piercing, so he tol d me that I should go first.
So I laid down on the chair and he cleaned my belly and then he took a purple marker and put dots on my bellybutton and told me to look in the mirror and I said that they were fine, and so I laid down on the chair again. I was so nervous, i didn't even know what i was doing..and the guy told me to keep my legs flat, so I did. Then I held my cousin's hand and the piercer guy said to count to three. One..Two..Three..and it was done! My cousin was like ewww and I was like 'okay that doesn't help!' It all happened so fast! I remember I was afraid to get up because I think I was afraid that the ring would fall out or something. But I got up anyways, and looked in the mirror and I was so proud of myself! I've never been so happy in my life!
Then my cousin got her eyebrow done and I was glad that I went first because if I saw her get her piercing before I had mine done then I know I would have chickened out! After everything was all over, we had huge grins on our faces and we went out to show our moms our new piercings! They weren't too thrilled, but who cares! As long as we were happy! My piercing healed very, very quickly, but for the first couple of days, I remember I kept hitting it by accident and it was just sore, but no unbearable pain, it just felt like you bumped into a wall or something.
Well it's been almost a year now since that day and im still in love with it! I love buying new barbells to put in it and its so much fun to show off! I'm working on convincing my mom to let me get my tongue pierced now, I hope she'll say yes!
