A few days ago I went to Body Mod Studio in Riverside to get both of my nipples pierced. It took me along time to come to this decision because I was worried about how much it would hurt. After reading tons and tons of experiences on here, I decided that it wouldn't hurt that bad and that i could handle the pain. Nevertheless, I was pretty nervous but Airick, my piercer, was a great guy who helped me feel more comfortable by using humor to lighten the situation..
Body Mod charges 20 for each nipple to be pierced and 15 or more for the ring or barbell. I chose barbells because I like the way it looks. I didn't want people to see a ring hanging from my nipple through my shirt. As I am filling out the paperwork, which includes questions like what I've eaten that day and what I am allergic to, Airick is asking me what size my nipple is by drawing it on the paper. Kind of odd, but I'm not sure what size my nipple actually is. So, I told him that I guessed that was my size and he laughed.
I'm still kind of hesitant on whether I want both nipples to be pierced in one night, so I tell this to Airick. He jokes that I look "strong, like a bull." He says that he's pretty sure that i will want both of them done.
Now I am ready to go back to the room where I will be getting pierced. It is a pretty big room that offers a lot of privacy with a door that closes and walls with out windows. Inside is also a bed, like a doctor's office type, that has a gray and black plastic cover with skeletons for protection. Airick then explained what I needed to know about aftercare and he even gave me two packets of sea salt, one for each nipple. I was also provided with a paper that said exactly what he had told me about the aftercare, just in case I forget.
Another thing I liked was that he opened the sterile packages in front of me so that I saw that they were new and unopened. He showed me the size of the barbell and said that I could go bigger if I wanted but that is as small as I could get. I decided to stay with the 14 gauge, the small one. I didn't want something to be so big and noticeable.
Next he had me remove my shirt and while I was standing took a marker and placed where the piercing would go. That alone took about 5 minutes. He marked then remarked and double checked to make sure that both sides were even. I appreciated him taking the time to do that.
He then covered the bed with paper, like a doctor's office, and had me lay down. My boyfriend stood at the head of the bed and held my hand while Airick told me to take deep breaths. After the third deep breath or so, my left nipple was pierced. I would compare the pain to getting your ears pierced. Kind of sharp, but really fast. After having felt my left one, I decided that I could completely handle my right nipple being done. So after so more deep breaths, my right nipple was pierced. This one hurt more, it felt slower. Airick explained that was probably because I was anticipating it and knew what to expect. I looked at my nipples, thanked Airick, and then got dressed.
When I got in the car to go back, I noticed that my nipples felt like they were burning. Also, they were really hard and swollen. I read the paperwork and it stated that was normal. That night my nipples were really sore and it hurt to move my arms. The next day was little better. Whenever I get cold my nipples send a shot of pain. After two days, I've noticed that sometimes a shirt is just enough to bother them and that I am starting to bleed. I've had to take care of a few spots of dried blood, and this morning I bled through one of my shirts.
After all of that, I feel like it was worth the money and the pain. Its kind of refreshing to think that under my clothes I have a secret that only a few people know about.
I would recommend anyone to go to Body Mod. They are very clean and I'd trust Airick to pierce me again. He was very honest and open about what I would feel and what i should expect in the next few days. And it was reassuring to know that he had tons of piercings, especially that he had his nipples done. He also said that men don't take the nipple piercing as well as women do. I liked that he said that, it made me feel a lot more powerful.
